Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC:
Introduction & Background

Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC is registered in December 2017, in terms of the south African laws, and it based in Gauteng, Tshwane. Currently
managed by three directors.
Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC was founded based on many challenges caused by the high rate of unemployment in South Africa, whereby women, mostly black Africans, youth and the unskilled people are the most affected. They are also the most vulnerable to the forces of the labour market, especially women and youth of colour who mainly hold low-skilled jobs.
This is confirmed by the Quarterly Labour Force Survey Quarter 1: 2021, released by StatsSA, which found that the unemployment rate for females was 34.0% against 31.4% of males.
(Source:https://www.gov.za/speeches/public-works-and-infrastructure-women-empowerment-through-expanded-public-works-programme, 26/08/2021) and also The White Paper for Social Welfare has confirmed that this situation has resulted in a decrease in per capita income, and increasing poverty and pressure on the welfare system to meet basic human needs. Inflation has affected the capacity of poor families to meet their needs.
Further, low levels of economic growth and income are also associated with low levels of savings. This means that when individuals and families become vulnerable, they have limited resources on which to draw.
Extreme inequality in the distribution of income exists among racial groups and
households.
The poorest 40% of households in South Africa earn less than 6% of total
national income, whilst the richest 10% earn more than half of the national income.
It is an established fact that small businesses employ more people than corporations, which makes the basis for our business case.
Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment NPC intends to zoom into women and youth empowerment through skilling that brings sustenance.
These are skills that are used in everyday life for food security and property maintenance. With these
• Farming & Livestock (Growing Vegetables and Livestock)
• Carpentry/Upholstery
Are the driving force of our focus to empower women and youth. With this Descendants Women and Youth Empowerment is a strategic intervention aimed to reduce poverty and provide income support through the creation of work opportunities for the poor and unemployed women and youth to self sustainability, by giving them an income generating skill.
